• Making a WoW server

From Metal@1:123/3002 to All on Sat Feb 28 23:39:24 2026
So I picked up classic World of Warcraft CDs the other day, never played it till now and I REALLY love it. When I found out I could patch my realmlist.wtf file to connect to third party servers, I suddenly had the idea "What if I made my OWN private WoW server so me and my school buddies could play together?" And so, that's exactly what I did.

I set this up using a server "emulator", as they call it, called MaNGOS, and I built it from the source code and setup MariaDB and all that jazz so now I have a full on WoW client and server running on my Debian Linux laptop.

How much memory and cpu would be required for such a server. I love setting different ones up. This bbs is on a Debian machine which has 32 g of ram. Not enough for Wow i'd imagine.
