    Title: Sardine Puff

    Yield: 6 Servings

    8 oz Maine sardines (2 cans)
    8 sl White bread
    1 1/2 tb Butter
    1/4 c Green pepper; chopped
    3/4 c Sharp Cheddar cheese;
    - shredded
    3 Eggs
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Dry mustard
    Pepper; as desired
    2 c Milk
    Paprika

    Drain sardines and cut into thirds.

    Remove crusts from bread, spread with butter or margarine, and cut
    bread into 1/2" cubes. Place half the bread cubes in a well-greased
    12x8x2" baking dish. Cover with sardines, green pepper, and half of
    the cheese. Top with remaining bread cubes and cheese.

    Beat eggs, salt, mustard, and pepper. Add milk and mix well. Pour over
    bread and sprinkle with paprika.

    Bake at 350?F (moderate oven) 45 to 50 minutes, or until firm in the
    center. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
