  • Import tariffs

    The US has once again imposed additional import tariffs on 60 trading partners. It is becoming increasingly clear that as a company and as a country, you are better off without dependence on the US. The question now is how these countries will respond to the US. These additional import duties affect more than 99% of everything the US imports. Ultimately, therefore, American consumers and businesses are paying more.

    A few hours before high import tariffs were set to take effect between the US and Canada, the parties reached an agreement after all. The Americans are suspending the 50% import duties on certain Canadian products indefinitely. Indefinitely means until Trump forgets about this deal again and lets the situation escalate once more. That is often the case within one to two weeks. We shall see how things play out now.

    That's good but it seems fast. Didn't she just turn 16 recently?

    I've been riding along with my daughter while she drives (with her permit) and seeing her at the steering wheel brings back memories from when she was a toddler and I'd let her "steer" and push all the buttons while we'd wait for mom to come out of a store. Those were fun times!

    This is fun too.

    Turned 16 on the 1st of July. and now she drives...

    I paid for lessons and helped near the end. I'm not made of the same stuff when my others were younger.

    I don't care ... we can focus on non driving things now.

    School starts soon.

    In Michigan, you can get a learner's permit at 15 and can drive with an adult in the car.
    You can get your license at 16 with parental permission.
    At 18 you can get your license no matter what.

    I think they added extra restrictions in the 16, 17 age group about driving at night and how many friends you can have in the car too. Just to prevent accidents and distracted driving problems until they get more practice.

    That's about the same here, except no permit until age 16.

    The good thing about teenagers driving with permits is that they are at least curious about the laws and about driving right, unlike many adults.
