Since Sheriffs are elected by the people, they are only beholden to the people - not to a shadowy group pulling the strings.

With the technology that we have today, we ought to do that. Every month we have an election for people like congress critters. The "good", "meh", "bad". No vote = "meh". If "bad" wins, there's some sort of punishment.

Good point. My county sheriff didn't run ads on TV or anything. He built a reputation by serving as a police officer for several years (unlike George's puppets.) And now a Democrat lawyer is running against him. How does "lawyer for sheriff" sound to you?

I think the terms are about the right size. But we need an overall limit to the number of years someone can spend in gov't - congress-critters as well as unelected bureaucrats and judges.

80 year olds are unfit to lead people who work for a living.

But that's why we'll never see real term limits.

These people are useless outside of a communist-like environment. They produce nothing. They do nothing.

If we were to limit the number of years these people were to be able be in gov't, they would disappear. Which is good for us, but bad for them.
