• Getting a answer.msg error

    From Rick V@1:103/705 to All on Mon Jun 2 21:33:44 2025
    For some reason I'm getting this error now. It doesn't seem to be everytime a login happens, just once in a while..

    term Node 1 !ERROR in prntfile.cpp line 311 (sbbs_t::menu) checking "C:\sbbs\text\menu\answer.msg" access=0

    Would anyone know why this is happening?

    Rick V

    does this file exist

    Yes, it's in the text directory. But the error seems to want it in the text/menu directiry.

    Yes, it's in the text directory. Why is the error looking for it in the text/menu directory?

    I'm not sure. Are you using a 3rd party login module?

    I see you're using my login matrix. That error likely happens if a user connects who doesn't have an ANSI-capable terminal, so it reverts back to the traditional login. Usually, there is an answer.msg in your text\menu directory, but it seems that file might not exist on your system. If you aren't using an answer.msg file, then you can edit your login.js, and on the line where it loads DDLoginMatrix, the 2nd parameter specifies the base filename of your answer message file. If you aren't using one, you can specify a blank string ("") there.

    The answer.* files are normally located in the text directory, not text/menu. --
