Anyone setup either of these networks?
A lot of Ham Ops here and those in my local GMRS radio group have them
all over the place.
I thought it was radio specific at first, but after reading up on it I
see it is just txt messaging - almost like the original chat rooms if
you add the channels.
I'm not sure which one, so I grabbed a couple LoRa devices to setup
one of each to see what I can access around here.
...the Faketec board.
I'd rather have real tech. ;)
We're looking to set up a small node network, but with the Promicro and the Faketec board. It's not very powerful, but it's not bad for testing things out. How is the LoRa power consumption?

I have seen others run power tests, but haven't myself. My 1500mA battery will last an 8hr day. My 3000mA version lasts over 12 hrs before I just through it on the charger. Both are ESP32-S3 boards. I had no idea LoRa was so broad for other things, and found it pretty amazing and opens up for ideas (advanced WX Station, etc.)
Hi, I'm still learning, so something like this sounds good to me. I'll have to look into it carefully to find the easiest way to get started without having to make long trips to recharge the batteries.
Inexpensive solar panel for a Security Camera is what I'm going to
use. Weather Proof, good output even when cloudy. There are some good
3D printed stations/cases out there that provide a good all-in-one
case to hold and mount everything. Pretty neat hobby (Especially in
the Europe area!)
Yes, it's quite entertaining. They sent me a list with all sorts of equipment, but for now, I'll start after winter. Right now, I'm just trying out two spots near home.

I am running two from home as well. 1 is running MQTT so I see msgs
from all over the USA/CANADA. Pretty neat!
