horror movies and why?

1. The Exorcist

Very atmospheric and disturbing, impressive special effects for the time. I think the book is even better but in my opinion it's one of the classic movies that define horror.

2. The Thing (1982)

The BEST practical special effects I have ever seen combined with a good story and atmosphere. The outside is dark, cold and hostile to life. On the inside you can trust nobody. The future of the entire planet is on the stakes.

3. Hagazussa

Extremely slow burning movie. There is very little dialog. The story unfolds mostly implicitly through details in the beautiful and sometimes disturbing images. Feels a bit like a bad trip on magic mushrooms.
