    X-FLARE SHATTERS THE QUIET: The sun has been mostly quiet for weeks. That ended today with a powerful X2.4-class solar flare. The unexpected explosion caused a radio blackout in the Pacific Ocean and hurled a CME into space.
    More solar flares appear to be in the offing this weekend.
