Hmmm...do you know where I can get it? I'd like to have as many editors choose from as I can...besides I'd like to try it out myself.

    afaik it's default to synchronet??

I think it comes with Synchronet, but I don't think it's set up in SCFG by default.

Scary. I didn't have it on a fresh install. Had to install it.

    But I Like it!

:) I like Deuce's FS editor too. It's a decent editor, although I never really got used to it because its commands are different from what I'm used to. I tended to continue using IceEdit or DCT Edit. The main reason I decided to write SlyEdit was because I wanted an editor that didn't need to be run in a virtual DOS machine, which is slow. Since IceEdit and DCT Edit are both DOS apps, they are noticeably slower than a JavaScript message editor in Synchronet.

Ya, I was using IceEdit, too...but it doesn't accept CTRL-A codes...now I'm getting used to this one...

I like how you can do CTRL-I for a tab-stop so I don't have to hit spaces a million times when I want to do this:

    -My little personal tag lines...

I think the reason it doesn't support ctrl-A codes is that ctrl-A codes aren't standard.. Ctrl-A codes are a Synchronet thing. One of the reasons I haven't implemented them in SlyEdit yet is because of that reason, and the fact that Synchronet BBSs are often on message networks with other BBSs that use different BBS software which don't understand the Ctrl-A codes. Messages with color codes that other BBS packages don't understand tend to just look funky on those BBSs.

Well most of the time, I post mainly on DOVE-Net and my own networks, where I think most BBSs are running Synchronet. In fact, in all the networks I carry, I think many of the BBSs are Synchronet BBSs, perhaps with the exception of SciNet. I genrally don't use color codes in my message though.

I do want to add support for Ctrl-A color codes in SlyEdit at some point in the future.. Perhaps I'll also add a configuration option for whether or not to allow users to use them so that sysops can disable the feature if they want.

I love slyedit.. but what turned me on to fsedit was the way the interface acted, I love the way the quoting works.

the CTRL-A can always be stripped out before gating to fido. uucp etc..

hehe, that's one of the things that turned me off about fsedit.. The way the quote window moves around threw me off a bit, but I can see how that can be useful. Also, fsedit uses different commands than I'm used to.. I often want to press Ctrl-Q to quote, but in fsedit, Ctrl-Q quits (aborts) the message.
