• Matprotlib and wxPython

Recently I have been working on a project involving doing some graphing, and I decided to choose Python with wxPython for the GUI, and I ran across Matplotlib for Python, which is a really nice graphing/plotting library. Matplotlib was new to me, but after finding some examples and documentation online, I found it fairly easy to graph data with it.. And it can do a lot more than what I've used it for so far. Matplotlib can do bar charts, line graphs, scatterplots, polar plots, 3D graphs, etc., and it looks really nice. Matplotlib works with several different GUI libraries, including wxPython and Qt (and I think some others).

Also, I had used wxPython before long ago, but I forgot how easy it is to get a GUI set up with wxPython.

If anyone has a need to quickly get some graphing going in a programmatic way, I think Python and Matplotlib is a good combination (along with wxPython, of course). And another cool thing about Python and these libraries is that they're multi-platform, so they should all work on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, etc..
