    that eventually came up with the original version of the business-oriented computer language that we all know and love -- COBOL!

    Cool, I didn't realize that. :) I also remember hearing that Grace Hopper had some involvement with COBOL? Looking on Wikipedia, it says she popularized the idea of machine-independent programming languages, which led to COBOL.

    She sure did! She is considered by many to be the mother of the language.
