My other Denny's fave was the British Burger.

    Never seen that one here.

I think they removed it from the menu in the 198os.

That's, sadly, becoming more and more common. I had to take one of my former favourite stops out of the rotations becaue they printed a new
menu and my usual breakfast of eggs, bacon, taters and toast jumped up from U$7.80 to U$11.75 (without tip) for the same meal. Made my throat slam shut.

Average price for a breakfast here is $15 before tip. Some places are cheaper than others, some are more expensive. As a rule I just make breakfast myself at home as I can cook an egg better then most diners anyway. :)

What is that in American shackels? If my "top of the head" exchane rate
    is correct - about U$10. Which ain't bad if you're doing coffee. I don't
buy coffee out. By the time I hit the diner I've already had my coffee
for the day. And water is alm ost always "complimentary". Bv)=

I can do eggs just fine. It's the tater's that they do better at the
cafe. My preferred tater is either 1/2" (12mm) cubes or Tater Tots deep
fried. Or really crispy shredded hash browns.

I also do a version of McDonald's Egg McMuffin using bratwurst patties
    or Italian sausage patties.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: McDonald's Sausage Egg McMuffin
    Categories: Five, Pork, Breads, Cheese
    Yield: 4 Mcmuffins

4 tb Softened butter; divided use
    4 English muffins
    1/2 lb Breakfast sausage
    +=OR=+
    4 Bob Evans' sausage patties
    4 lg Eggs
    1/2 c Water
    4 sl American cheese

Divide sausage into four patties. Press out patties
fairly thin. Cook sausage patties over medium heat in a
skillet for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, drain on paper
    towels.

Split open English Muffins and place them into a
    toaster, toast the English Muffins.

Remove the English muffins from the toaster and spread
    softened butter on both halves.

Place the 1 slice of cooked sausage on each English
    muffin bottom.

Add about 1 tablespoon of butter to the same skillet
    where you cooked the sausage.

Place the quart-sized canning lids screw side up (or you
can use an egg ring) into the skillet.

Spray the canning lid with non-stick spray. Crack an egg
    into each of the rings.

Break the yolk with a folk. Pour about 1/2 cup of water
into the skillet, and place a lid on top. Cook until the
eggs are set, it should take about two minutes.

Gently remove the eggs from the rings, and place one egg
on each piece of cooked sausage.

Top each egg with one slice of American cheese, top
cheese with the top of the English muffin.

Wrap each egg McMuffin with foil or parchment paper.
Wait about 30 seconds before serving.

About right. Since I left the finance business I don't know exchange
rates anymore. LOL I also don't watch international news, I only know
who won your election because Andrea told me.

buy coffee out. By the time I hit the diner I've already had my

I mostly do get a cup of coffee out,

    Sounds good!

I remember the first trip to Canada w/Hoosier Tire. We were doing an
Indy Car race at San Air in Quebec. So we crossed at Detroit/Windsor.
After clearing customs we set off down the 401 and stopped at one of the service plazas to get a meal. I paid with a U$20 for a CAD7 check and the cashier gav me back CAD22 and change. I though to myself "I'm gonna like
    this."

If they're well done (crispy). I also had a favourite place that did a
thing they called "cottage fries" which was 1/4" cubes of potato deep
fried and with a garlic butter sauce. I liked it so well I managed to
get the recipe for the sauce so could do it at home.

Tends to freak people out who are expecting regular "breakfast" sausage
with its sage undertone and they get something with a lot of oregano
and basil, etc. Or a fairly bland, but different flavoured altogether
    bratwurst patty. Bv)=

Laugh. I know when I ran my business I would accept USD but only at par.
If someone wanted to pay that badly in USD I figured it was worth the gamble
    on it being counterfit.

Any large purchases I asked for plastic or CAD so I could at least check the bills.
