    Hello Terry,

Like Donald said "God saved him" so why are you surprised?

God did not save Donald Trump.

Just think what that would imply.

"God protected Donald Trump." ~ US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)

Other politicians, as well as religious folk, have said much
the same thing. But I doubt any of them have thought about what
    they have said.

This way of thinking implies that God redirected the bullet into
the person who was killed at his rally, or the two people who were
    critically injured.

    Do you honestly believe that?

God kills people so that others will live?
Is that the kind of God you want to believe in?
    Not me.

God kills some hostages in Gaza so others can live.
Isn't that the same thing that some folks are saying
in reference to Trump's survival? God killed others
    so Trump can live?

I was brought up to believe that God is Love. This is at the heart
of the Christian faith. Or so I was led to believe.

The New Testament says "No one has ever seen God, but if we love
one another God abides in us."

There you go. All we have to do is love one another.
Jesus showed us how. By his own example.

Paul (who never met Jesus, but was knocked off his horse) says
"All the law is summed up into this command -- Love, Love God and
    each other."

Do you think that Paul was kidding? Remember, he was the one who
went about persecuting Christians in his day.

What a guy. Talk about blinded by the light. He learned fast.

    Now think about this -

If God is love then God wants us all to love and flourish.
When we hurt and kill each other, like Cain and Abel, how do
    you think God feels?

An invisible deity. Nobody can know how God feels.

That is why Christians have Jesus.

Go ahead. Look at Jesus. Look at what he did when Peter
used a sword to chop off the ear of a Roman soldier. Jesus did
not praise Peter, but admonished him by saying "Live by the
    sword, die by the sword."

And then he went on to heal the soldier's ear.

You do see what I am getting at. The way of Jesus is nonviolence.
Even to those who are violent to us.

So how can anybody believe Trump claiming that God saved him?
How can anybody believe others who claim that God saved him?

When Jesus disarmed Peter, he disarmed every one of us.

And yet there are Christians. Or those who call themselves
Christians. Who really do not know or want to know what it means
    to be a Christian.

There is no such thing as redemptive violence. It is all a lie.
A big lie. Violence is the problem, not the solution. Violence is
    the disease, not the cure.

Why did Jesus come? Certainly you have your own beliefs.

Precisely why Jesus came should be obvious to all - but so
few people get it. He wanted to show us what God is like and
what love looks like. With skin on. In the flesh. Somebody
others could relate to. Unmistakeably nonviolent.

If we do not conclude that God saved Donald Trump on Saturday,
what lesson(s) should Christians take from Saturday's attempt on
    Donald Trump's life?

Any theology that puts God, rather than sinful human beings,
behind a gun or a bomb is bad theology. Really bad theology.

Is that the theology Christians want to place their faith in?
If so, please leave me out of it.

    For Life,
    Lee

You do not understand what happened. Trump cut himself shaving.
Not really his fault, given what happened. After having been scared
out of his wits while on stoge in front of a capacity crowd, his
security detail took him away for observation. Then he looked into
a mirror and found out the problem. His hair was messed up, missing
part of his toup‚. And knowing he had a convention to go to, he
had to get it fixed. So he called up his barber, who fixed up his
hair and gave him a shave. With a straight razor, as all master
barbers do. And she was really good. Except fot the little small
    nick on his ear.

Realizing his mistake, Trump found the cash and paid her right
away, knowing what she would have done next. And then she stood
there, smiling, ready to make her next move.

And that is how J. D. Vance got Trump's ear, becoming Trump's
next vice president. The one man who knows better never to get
    a shave from his wife.

    Hello Bj”rn,

We will probably never know what the young man thought since he
    is dead.

Unfortunately, now we couldn't even find out who made him do it.

Allowing the shooter to continue shooting would have been far worse.

I can't help wondering why the trained sniper, that shot him dead from 150 m
less than 20 seconds after he opened fire, had to aim at his head, rather than simply decapacitate him.

Oh, come now. A trained sniper is good. They hit their target
on the first try. Each and every time. If they do miss, a second
shot will be sure to do it. The best snipers in the military can
hit targets over a mile away. 150 yards is short in comparison.

It's a bit too convenient if you ask me.

Not really. Take the shooter out. On the first shot, if possible.

However, there is an exception. If a shooter is using a handgun
rather than a rifle, it is possible to disarm him/her rather than
shoot him/her dead on the spot. John Hinckley is a case in point.

    Hello Terry,

Sounds and looks like a fairy tale.

One third of the other party thought he faked it.
    And maybe they are right.
After all, not everybody is a Trumper.
Good thing they were only loaded in their own minds.

It could have been worse. His wife could have been there.
But we know why, so she is forgiven. Had to make sure Log
Cabin Republicans were happy. She did not want to disappoint.

But no worries. She made it to the convention.
On the last night. Good thing nobody let her speak.
