Hello all,

The last couple of days I've been unable to connect to any of the door
games on my 'BBSLink' gateway. What happens is that I try to access one
of them, and after a 20-30 second delay, I get this error message:

!JavaScript http.js line 117: Error: Unable to connect to games.bbslink.net:80

(with a 'Hit a key' prompt to continue).

Haven't changed anything on this end, and did a complete git/update
today with no change. I'm not sure why that error message is trying to connect to port 80 on the BBSLink end, I would think it would be
telnetting to 23. I have my 'bbslink.js' in /sbbs/mods just as it's
always been.

Anyone else seeing this? Not sure what else to try here. Thanks.

I've never used BBSLink and it's been a long time since I looked at it, but I vaguely recall them having a web service in the loop, possibly as part of the login process, maybe to specify a door to launch upon connecting. (As opposed to the typical rlogin game server which just abuses the terminal-type for this purpose.) That may be wildly off-base though.

Anyone else seeing this? Not sure what else to try here. Thanks.

Their website loads for me, on ports 80 and 443, but that's not to say it's the same server that handles whatever bbslink.js is calling. Are you able to view their site in a browser? If not, maybe your address got blocked for some reason.

Beyond that, can't say more without seeing bbslink.js.

Yes, it's always connected that way, I have'nt really tried to look into the code to see what it is doing, but I'm guessing it is doing some sort of user authentication or something, it's not an actual straight rlogin into the system.

Same issue here, I think its on bbslinks side.

Okay, sure does seem that way now. At least one other person is also
seeing this. I will contact the BBSLink operator and let him know.

accurate.

The website loads/works fine for me.

Beyond that, can't say more without seeing bbslink.js.

There were a couple of other responses in here from other sysops who are seeing the same thing on their boards. Appears to be an issue on the
BBSLink side, I will contact the operator there to let them know.

couple of other folks with the same issue, so I think something was done
on the server end, and it's working.

It's intermittent.

My issues here are resolved as of this evening. I had notified the
BBSLink operator about the problems, and he must have done something
(reboot?) on the server end. All is well now.
