I just got over a case of food poisoning -- spent the past two days laid
up, but lost 6 pounds. The first cup of coffee since Tuesday tastes
    pretty good.

The one good thing to come out of this is discovering high-end ginger
ale - makes the Schweppes stuff taste like diet pepsi that's gone past
    the pull date.

Note to self: New diet plan - Food poisoning.

I tried Scweppes ginger ale once, and I thought it tasted similar to Canada Dry (which I like). I've also had Vernor's, which has a pretty good flavor, though I think Vernor's has more sugar and calories. What was the high-end ginger ale you discovered?

I was going to say, sounds like a new diet plan, but that definitely wouldn't be good.

I'd expect any of the brewed ginger ale/beer would taste better than the ol schweppers or any other flavoured fizzy water :) The ginger ales of this world tend taste pretty similar, mostly synthetic. The brewed versions tend to taste more like actual ginger. There is some variation amongst brewed varieties so it might take a bit of time to find one that suits to a T

Sorry to hear you've been unwell and good that you are on the mend now.

    Never fun being sick :(

I hear reading messages from overseas on a BBS FTN is always a tonic :)

Their tonic is the best too! I used to love fever tree and beefeater
when I drank. It was always my "special occasion" drink.

I like their tonic, too - when I was young and wanted to look like I
was drinking at bars when I was driving, I'd order a tonic and lime.

I'll still have one occasionally - and sometimes with a splash of gin.

I attribute my gin and tonic consumption for my not getting malaria in
    my 20s. :)

Now that I don't drink I will sometimes order that when out with a group,
if just family or friends I just stick with club soda which is what I drink
    at home anyway.

I won't get malaria as long as I live with how many I drank over the years.
    LOL
