Well, the talk of the soap box was the band conditions. We have up to what NOAA classed an R3 radio black out over this weekend affecting the sunlit portions of the globe.
Spirits remained high though and people kept on keeping on. There were some lonely stations out there keeping up the CW CW WES not knowing if they were even getting out. Typically they were stations I'd already worked but there were plenty that I gave a shout to and just couldn't hear my meager 4 watts of QRP power.
Some new keys in play and I wasn't the only Bug in action but it was a nice event to try out the bug on the air. I managed to slow the roll with a make shift stinger on the pendulum arm and that knocked me back into the mid teens for the dit's when sending. The other great thing I discovered is the ability to just make a QSO with a slower station using the Dah side if I need to really slow it down for conditions or skill levels. Good tool and think it'll be a nice addition to the shack.
Well as always I think SKCC is one of the very best Ham Radio Clubs you could join. It's free, the events tend towards the casual, straight keys, Cootie or Bugs are the premise so you tend to get slower code ops, and it's all just good fun.
Best 73 to all and hope that I get to hear you on the air some day.
