Does anyone run a Mystic BBS FTP server that I can checkout????
I'm thinking about putting the 2oFB File Archives on FTP, per a few users requests, and trying to decide if I should run it right through Mystic - or run some other solution...
Thanks to neoshock and zip - both allowed me to view the FTP server and yea... it's pretty awesome; thinking of putting the huge 2oFB archives

That would be some retro archive for sure! =)
BBS - like literally, hands down, I can 'get more' done by using a TG/RG/Mystic-like file system. Since files are mostly retro, you can dig in... read .txt/.doc/etc files, blow up the archives and even see what cool historical nuggets (bbstros, cracks, etc) might be in some random

Speaking of that, but in the other direction, I think Mystic will virus scan FTP uploads if Test Uploads = Yes and Test CmdLine etc. is set in
the FTP server options, and import FILE_ID.DIZs (my memory is a bit
vague on that, though). Scanning might cause timeouts for clients,
though.

If I do open an FTP server, I'm not gonna let uploads I don't think... hmmm - thats a toughy cause yea, would be quicker for folks to upload but - I've curated mostly all the data @ 2oFB and I just don't like the thought of an open FTP.... hmmmmm.

Yeah, I originally allowed anon ftp uploads, but that went away fast... Windows Defender was working its ass off that day! Now I allow uploads from verified users, which seems to work fine. You could always add a tier of users for upload access. For virus scanning, I use f-prot 3.16f for DOS virii and Windows Defender scans for Win32+ virii.

I don't think you would need to setup the Test Uploads for that. I
believe Mystic will read the file_id.diz on uploads. However you can use the test uploads to then add a zip comment like "this file flew through
my awesome BBS"

You are welcome, one thing to note though is unlike Syncronet you cannot make sub directories. All of your directories will be in the root directory of the ftp server.
Back in the day I use to run a scene FTP server. If I remember correctly it was able to read file_diz, and display it when you cd into a
directory, or did a "site" command. Back then I was using Windows, and
the server was RaidenFTPd. It looks like it is still around. Glftpd does have this function, and many more for linux you may want to look into.
You may need to figure out how to add users from your BBS.
It may be possible as I was able to let group leaders add their members via eggdrop on irc. something you may want to look into.
Thats what I was thinking - since my file archive is so... large, and spread out, I might need to just use some other softwarez as opposed to the built-in Mystic solutions. My file conferences aren't just in ~/mystic/files.

Good times! I was at a software company, and we installed a 56k leased line to the internet. We had a mail host people would shell to and read mail locally, get mail via POP, or just use to connect to the internet.
