In preparation for our upcoming trip, we had a mobile RV repair guy come to the house
to replace a faucet in the RV and to diagnose why the rear bed would not extend.
It turns out the retracting bed motor was bad. The wires leading to its circuit board
were all disconnected. So we ordered our $300 motor and it should be here sometime
next week from Winnebago.
Because the faucet is a one-hole and not a standard 3-hole faucet, I had to have the
repair guy order and install it. $79 for the faucet, when Amazon had a similar one for
$35.
After he installed that faucet, he turned the water pump on and heard water coming
from somewhere in the back of the RV. It turns out that the rear bathroom faucet was
bad as well and it also needs replacement. Another $79 plus installation to come.
So the repair guy will be back a third time sometime next week to finish everything.
We still stand by our decision to drive the motorhome to Georgia for the holidays instead
of renting a car and staying in a motel. It's just the preparation that is costing us big
bucks.
I always try to play the 'I was a police officer and I shouldn't own something like this
because I'm on a pension plan that has not had a COLA in the 22 years since I retired"
card. It didn't work though. No percentage off for my service.
