I like wikitree but it can appear to be edited by nearly anyone. I do see some items are deleted by some MERGE bot?

I gave up on Ancestry years ago after paying hundreds of dollars to locate my Father's Grandfather's name and coming up empty handed.

A couple months ago I started using MyHeritage and FamilyTree after purchasing my DNA kit. That opened up a whole world for me. I am waiting for confirmation of my direct lineage to Thomas Edward Norris (1608-1675). He ran away from home at age 11 and became a ship mate and arrived in the now Virginia area, Kent Island. I wish I could locate the information I gathered while deployed overseas and passed through England. They had me put on cotton gloves and opened a book showing 7 NORRIS/NORREYS names. I was looking for any information back then and wondered what my Heraldry looked like.

So it appears if the information can be confirmed, that I am 13 generations down from my direct lineage to NORRIS arriving at Kent Island. There have been other Norris' within a 100 year or so period, but I haven't looked into seeing if those NORRIS' are different branches of the tree.

I tied my DNS kit to the two sites and waiting for hits and confirmations.

I have learned a lot and have helped a number of people trace their roots, but over
time, I have spent thousands of dollars and certainly will never truly get my money's
    worth.
