I got back into building models in 2019. Attended and entered my first Model show competition that summer and won with one of my models.

I've got a nice stash of models, but unfortuantely, haven't had time to sit down and start working on them again. I'm hoping to sometime soon.

My interest is in space models. Whether real space (NASA rockets,
Space Shuttle, etc.) or Science Fiction (Star Trek, Space:1999)

Used to build model cars as a kid - got out of it for a long time -
KINDA got back into it in the 90's, then again in the 'aughts' for
a bit. Havne't completed one in a LONG time. :-)

... I took an IQ test, and the results were negative.

When I was a wee lad, my father subscribed me to some model making club. Once every few months a model would arrive, usually a plane or a ship or something and we would put it together. At first they sent the "snap together" kind which were pretty easy to put together. It was fun pulling all the plastic pieces off the "frame" or whatever it was called, and then snapping them together.

Applying the decals was a pain. Getting them wet, then using tweasers to put them on in the right spot... I never had the patience and they were always off a bit.

Later the club decided we were ready to the glue-together type of model. I'm not sure they were correct in that assessment. I made a mess of the table with the model glue and a fun project turned into a messy one. I think we unsubscribed a bit after that.

    And thats my model story.

The folks that put models together and spend hours painting them and making them perfect are very impressive to me.
