Mike,
It's that time of year. Christmas is my wife's favorite holiday, so
she has already started listening. If I listen, I always try to find
the old standards and try to avoid a station that plays covers by
artists that just like to ruin the song.
Grandma got run over by that reindeer...so, you see the deer heads on
the fireplace mantle. <G>
I don't mean to sound like a Grinch. I love Christmas and everything
that goes with it. I am planning on hanging lights outside tomorrow.
It's something I look forward to every year.
I loved the way Boris Karloff did the song with the original Dr. Seuss
deal. I didn't care for the movie with Jim Carey...although I did like
him in "The Mask".
I think anything by Johnny Mathis is a worthwhile listen. What artists
do you enjoy?
I agree with Christian Comedian Chondra Pierce. "If they play White
Christmas once more, I'm going to slit my wrists". <G>
Seriously, I prefer the songs with "the reason for the season". But, with
all the commercialism over the last several years, I got burned out. I do
not put up decorations of any sort, and don't do any music, go to any
church cantatas, etc.
I'm not like that female country star named Gretchen (I forget her last name), who has her Christmas lights up all year long...and she knows all
the words to every Tanya Tucker, Charlie Daniels, and Ol' Bocephus (Hank Williams, Jr.) song.
Daryl
... I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory.
