From Mike Dippel@954:895/1 to All on Sat Apr 20 22:55:52 2024
We recorded the Billy Joel 100th from Madison Square Gardens and watched it tonight.
What a show! He is the consummate performer. Piano player, singer, songwriter,
harmonica player. He had a great band and every song was perfection.

My wife Googled the price patrons would have to pay to see it. The lowest was $386. The
stadium seats 19,500 people. I would love to have just one days take, but I am nowhere
as talented as him, so it's OK.

    So happy we recorded it!

I was curious as to why it was called "100th." He is not 100 years old, so he's not been in the business that long <grin>, and he's certainly played more that 100 concerts in his career.

This was his 100th monthly concert in MSG. This is his residency, much like it would be
    in Vegas.

was that the live airing where they cut off the last minute or so?
I see where they are going to re-broadcast the entire show.

We saw the rebroadcast. I guess that CBS caught a lot of flack for cutting his airing
short. Once I heard that it would be rebroadcast, I set it to record and extended the
recording another 15 minutes to ensure we could see it all.

I was reading that CBS did the foul-up cut-off. Global TV
(Canada) offered the whole thing to the very end.

100th "monthly"? Then that's amazing 'cuz those are usually
more than just one show for a set period.
