Post here if you like ping pong!

I've not played in years. Remember playing as a child at
    camps, etc.

But noticed a upcoming moving is about a ping pong player

A hustler-turned-champion ping pong player Marty Reisman's journey from playing for bets in Manhattan to winning 22 major titles and becoming the oldest to win a national racket sport competition at 67.

The movie Marty Supreme stars Timothee Chalamet of Wonka movie fam.

So may have to check it out.

Just out of curiousity , I also looked on IMDB (trying to find above info,
and there are like a number of other movies about Ping Pong).

One that I can think of is "Balls of Fury" where Maggie Q plays it using a wooden
    spoon. Good comedy.

That brings back memories, although I haven't played in years now.

My father built a table himself in our basement when we were young and
one time I ran into a person who'd been my best friend before we moved
about 7 years earlier. I ran into him somewhere and invited him over
when we were about 15 and when he saw thr table, he wanted to play..

We played a lot so I said sure, and it was tough but I managed to win
2 out of 3 games with him by a point or two. He later admitted he was
amazed because he had won some city wide championship (in a city of
about 160,000 people) and figured he would wipe the floor with me.

That was fun, but not as much fun as later when I figured out you
could talk Some ladies into playing strip ping pong.. You have to
make sure you only win by a point or two to keep them 'trying'.. B)

Although, I may be drifting somewhat off topic here.. B)

I was (and still am not) good at ping pong, but I like it a lot. I have 2 fond memories of table tennis:

    1. When my wife and I first got married, we inherited a PP table and
used it like a dining room table for a while, until we could afford a
proper one. Many impromptu games ensued -- while eating.

If you used the table to sleep on as well, you could say that you eat and sleep ping
    pong.

    2. Had a job where we did Friday PP tounreys w/happy hour. Losers had to crawl under the table, where it was dirty, spider-y and generally disgusting. I spent a lot of time under that table, lol.

Never heard of anyone having to do that. I guess that was a way to motivate you when
playing. It does sound like you all had a great time though. It's a great game.

Ha.. I have a couple of fond memories as well, although from quite a while back now. I haven't played in years.

My father made a table for our basement and we used to play for hours. One
time we had a visitor who saw it and asked if I wanted to play. We played 3 games and he was a tough opponent but I managed to just get by him 2 out of 3 games.. After we finished he said he was amazed since he had recently won a city championship (not sure who organized by) for Brampton, which back then
had a population of about 170,000 people. Supposedly a big deal.

The second interesting thing I found to do was, if you're clever, you can talk girls into playing strip ping pong (sort of self explanatory). If you don't play your best, manage to JUST squeak by them, you can keep them at it for
some time.. Although it is hard to concentrate once they start jumping around topless.. B)
