• PDX - cool software, dead software

Hey all, and MeaTLoTioN in particular, since he showed it to me first. Remember

when you showed me what could have come up with BBS in the later stages and you

showed me about PDX. Well I wanted to tell you here in this forum that I find it cool that it works (kinda) and that it even had voice capabilities.

Alas, the company behind the software is dead, and it's timelocked after using it for awhile. So even if you want to pay. There's absolutely no one to talk to.

It would have been cool to see what could have come up with such software. I assume similar stuff that we have now, since it's all ubiquitous just with different protocols. But to play around and having a cool new toy with a cool Qt (I assume?) UI was a nice refresher. I won't be using it. As it's a GUI that

was for Windows only, only managed to worked it on Linux.

Just wanted to put the stuff we had talked about in a chat in here for others to see.

    KDX, not PDX =)
I know, it really was a neat full featured bit of software.

I have a registration certificate in the file areas on the server, just look for the KDX directory and you'll see it. Will make it full unlocked version.

I wished that it was open sourced so it could have been continued, it was so small and efficient, putting even today's software to shame in many ways no doubt.

    KDX, not PDX =)

Damn it, I uninstalled the software so I had to remember the name via memory. PDX was constantly my guess since I thought KDX was some sort of KDE ecosystem program

I didn't know that! That's good to know it exists. Thanks for the info.

If I recall both you and Paulie keep active KDX instances online. It's on my list to check it one day, I just need to convince myself to launch Windows again... I find so little reason behind running Windows these days...
