From Mindsurfer@1337:1/104 to All on Fri Aug 21 13:43:36 2020
    Hey,

i have send some netmails back and forth with Meatlotion and he mentioned
that my netmail has the hub address 1337:1/100 instead of 1337:1/104 as
    from address in it.
How can this be fixed? What could cause that?

i am using MagickaBBS and writing the messages from inside the bbs using Magiedit. huskys hpt is the tosser/scanner and binkd is sending and
    recieving the packets.

do you have to look in hpt config? as i see it, the routing and link configuration is just fine.

    for example, hpt config:
    route crash 1337:1/100 1337:*
    route hold noroute 1337:1/104.*

    Link tqwnet
    Aka 1337:1/100
    ourAka 1337:1/104
    Password xxxxxxxxx
    pktpwd xxxxxxxx
    EchoMailFlavour Crash
    areafixAutoCreateDefaults -a 1337:1/104 -b Jam -p
    3650 -dupeCheck move -dupeHistory 14 -d "(tqwNet) " -g tqwnet
    linkMsgBaseDir /mnt/ssd1/bbs/ftn/msgs/tqwnet
    LinkFileBaseDir /mnt/ssd1/bbs/ftn/files/tqwnet
    filebox /mnt/ssd1/bbs/ftn/fileboxes/tqwnet
    forwardRequests on
    Packer zip
    allowPktAddrDiffer on
    LinkGrp tqwnet
    AccessGrp tqwnet

    hpt area configuration

I think its a bug with Mystic. Send me a netmail and I'll be able to confirm it...

Yeah it's a weird one, I hope that it's something easy to solve whether it's
a bug or just a misconfiguration somewhere. Keep us posted.

Yeah, its a bug - the message I got from Mindsurfer was fine.

I reported that issue back in the day when I was playing with Mystic...

I noticed that in the kludge of the netmails that is sent from hpt, there is
no "@MSGID:" header line, that line is what Mystic will uses to know the
node address of the sender right? The reason I see the HUB node address when the MSGID line is missing, is maybe because the line is missing so Mystic
just uses the HUB node address instead as that was the last node it passed through?

This is entirely speculation, but makes sense in my head, but I wonder why
the MSGID header is missing from hpt messages? does that need to be
configured somehow in the hpt config that is just missing for this one node?

    What do you think Deon?

    Howdy,

This is entirely speculation, but makes sense in my head, but I wonder why the MSGID header is missing from hpt messages? does that need to be configured somehow in the hpt config that is just missing for this one node?

MSGID is actually an echomail tag, not a netmail tag (TTBOMK). FTS-0001 makes no mention of MSGID.

The addressing of netmail (defined in that spec), uses INTL, TOPT, FMPT to determine the to and from address in the message. In the PKT file, depending on
the version also contains the to and from address - but that would be used by the tosser to determine where to route the message.

Strangly, IIRC, Mystic does something different to determine the from address. (I noticed it when I used it.)

It looks like it might be fixed in the A46 pre alpha releases. I was just looking at the WhatsNew file.

! Fixed a display bug in the From field of routed Netmail messages.

I usually wait until it's a public release before I upgrade CRBBS. :)

Ah yeah I'm still on A43!
I haven't upgraded yet as it _WILL_ break my BBS and I don't have enough time
I can put aside to fix it once it breaks.
