• Cheap MacBook Pro?

From poindexter FORTRAN@1337:3/178 to All on Wed Apr 24 06:58:00 2024
I'm interested in picking up a cheap MacBook Pro. I supported Macs from
2010 through 2015, am somewhat familiar with that era. I haven't touched
    one since.

I'm curious as to what the sweet spot is for used cheap Macs, looking to understand a balance between cheapness and support for newer
OSes/features. I'd like something that takes a standard SSD or NVMe and
RAM, and liked the 15" models. I wouldn't toss out a cheap air if it had
    enough RAM/SSD.

    Any Suggestions?

I have used an MBP from mid 2012, it has sata ssd and 16gb ram and worked pretty well, even after an ex decided to beat the living grandmother out of it on a marble worktop! Thank goodness for the strong aluminium cases eh?!

    Did you find anything yet?

No, not yet. Torn now between a MBP and a cheap Mac mini.

I picked up a renewed Macbook Pro 16" from Amazon a few months back for 629. For being a renewed product, it's in great shape and has some minor scratches on it.

Grin. Not b/c of the hardware abuse, more b/c of the similarity a previous laptop in a previous life had to endure.

Thank god/apple for quality indeed :)
