I have been wrestling with setting up Mystic MRC chat and have decided to make the leap.
I have a couple questions though.
I have MRCv10, is this the latest? Is there another I should be looking at setting up?
To setup MRC do I need to setup a server or just the Client? I think just the client but I am not sure. The sysop.doc doesn't make that clear.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just have the client setup to connect to mrc.bottomlessabyss.net on port 5000:

python ./mrc_client.py mrc.bottomlessabyss.net 5000


p.s: You may want to edit this line in mrc_client.py:

clogfile = "%s%smrcchat.log" % (mrcdir, os.sep)

By default it will write an mrcchat.log to your mystic/data directory logging everything said in MRC while the mrc_client.py script is connect, whether you're in the door chatting or not. This file can grow quite large if left unattended.

For those unaware, a new server was released and now implement deterministic routing, which will only send traffic to a bbs with a user requiring the message (either direct or room).

That will take care of that.
