• TQW setup

From HusTler@1337:1/101 to All on Mon Nov 16 15:38:13 2020
Hey. Has any Synchronet SysOps setup TQWnet using binkit? I doubt it but I thought I'd ask. All of the networks on my BBS use QWK. I'm not too familiar with FTN technology. Any suggestions? Thanks

Yes, I use FTN for all networks except Dove. It's not hard, there are just a lot of steps. There is a Fidonet setup external door included with synchronet under "doors" and "operator" you can use that... however TQW isn't listed there

so you have to follow the same steps but change all the info.

You might want to start by converting fsxnet or scinet first, using the door setup, so you get a feel for how to setup scfg and echocfg options.

If you've already got it working with QWK, then the only reason to change is to

get access to the filebones, which are not terribly active.

All of my bbs networks use QWK. Since TQWnet only uses FTN I'm trying to set the network up using Binkit with synchronet.

to set the network up using Binkit with synchronet.

What is the difference accessing the messages via QWK instead of FTN?
I'd be happy to investigate getting QWK set up as well if it works with how I have the hub set up.

Only thing I can think of right now is you can pull years back with qwk abd ftn it is a set time or say shorter time frame.

You can Rescan areas in FTN and go back as far as your HUB has messages. When I connect to a new FTN I usually RESCAN and grab the last 364 days of messages,

but you could try to go back farther.

With an FTN you Rescan using AREAFIX, which is a specially formatted netmail message.

Yes that's right, which is exactly what I did with my latest project, I set up tqwNet on the phone in my pocket bbs and rescanned the last 365 days of messages. Works a dream, could have gone back further but didn't see a need to.

It should be there in the fidonet init script as of a few weeks ago, you will have to pull the latest master from synchronet gitlab.

    Ahh sweet.
